Macquarie perch in the Yarra River

Protecting and enhancing our iconic local native fish species

Native Fish Australia (Victoria) has been actively advocating for the ecological health of the Yarra River for many years.

The organisation particularly seeks improved management of the Macquarie perch population within the Yarra River to protect and enhance the populations of this iconic native fish species.

Future work is proposed to include the provision of information signage at river access points along the Yarra River and other mechanisms for community education around the importance and significance of this endangered species.
